Hack Your Health: The Secrets of Your Gut’ Honest Review

Before watching Hack Your Health: The Secrets of Your Gut, I had some fears like is this documentary end make me feel miserable? This thought was due to the title wording; it did seem like advertising something that makes you serious about your health or scares you about your health for nothing. But its end makes me wrong and forces me to deny all thoughts that came before its watch. Indeed, it is a very informative documentary and a pleasant watch. Let’s delve deeper into it to take a closer look.

What is The Documentary About?

One can easily understand from the title what will go on in this documentary and it will mainly focus on gut health. In fact, Hack Your Health doesn’t waste time to get to the main point. The documentary starts by giving information to the audience about the gut. The narrator of the story is Giulia Enders which also the author of the book named “Gut”. She efficiently explained the science of the gut and did a fantastic job of making this information easy to digest even to laymen.

Hack Your Health makes things closely related to obvious facts, like how our mental health is attached to our gut health, where our gut resides, and how they relate to our immune system and also explains that before entering to microbiome bacteria are always not bad. This documentary informed us well about the microbiome also that how to take care of it and in return how the take care of our gut health, and what should we feed them to draw better results. The characters in Hack Your Health also shed light on our eating selection how food variety can affect gut health and what should be kept in mind for gut best care.

This documentary is not just an information piece but has a different character’s touch to prevent the audience from being bored. Soon there introduced four people: pastry chef Maya, single mom Kimmie, competitive eater Kobayashi, and doctoral student Daniell. Each four has different issues: Kobi is out of a sense of appetite; Kimmie is worried about losing weight; Maya has issues related to healthy eating and Daniell has gut pain. The next whole documentary revolves around highlighting these issues discussing related factors finding their solutions and also enhancing audience knowledge with interesting facts.

Although the process of highlighting all four issues concerning gut health does not cover all aspects I have a question for you how many times ever do you come across such type of information and get such level of detailed knowledge along with entertainment as well? Probably you did but a gut health test for all four issues makes sense in the real world. Hack Your Health tasted the four subjects and found out the issues with their guts. Now Kobi is not as worried as before about gut health despite eating hot food and now she considers appetite problems to be more psychological than gut issues, Maya is fine despite finding the right food, Kimmie came to know that she needs a good diet plan to achieve her health goal. But the most interesting case is Daniell here, she is ready to reach for FMT.

Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) is the climax of the documentary and this is a thing where you are caught off safety. I can bet that most of you did not even imagine that such type of treatment exists in reality. Hack Your Health Although visualizing the real-world issue and putting on symbolizing characters to make things better understandable for patients makes sense there is still a risk of bad may get transferred during the process, however, Daniell gets cured. This documentary ensures us we all are doing well already and little efforts can make us live better and get back a healthy life on track by just getting enough knowledge and practice on that road map.

Is It a Worthy Watch?

Usually, it has been seen that documentaries have some stories for targeted audiences that keep them bound till the end. Among them, health documentaries have a little edge because health is a common issue for people of all ages and health knowledge seekers always remain in search of valid and trustworthy information. Hack Your Health is also a health documentary that may fulfill researchers' and patients’ knowledge need to better understand their health issues especially gut health which is the main idea of this documentary. Anjali Nayar directed this documentary and used every tactic to keep engaging the audience till the end. Although this is health-related but picturized vibrantly and in colorful way.

In “Hack Your Health” eye-catching animation has been used to better explain the basics of gut health. I can say that this masterpiece can also add value to golden productions on Netflix that are worth a watch. As the food must look edible before eat, the same case with any video it must have an attention-grabbing cover or theme that should attract the audience to explore it and all such requirements are satisfied in this documentary. Here all processes have been shown through animations that how food enters into immune system and what comes in return. It is quite fun to watch it, if we show this documentary to school kids it might help them to learn better about our digestive system and our gut health.

Although Hack Your Health is different from other Netflix documentaries that have chill and thrill or this is not a program that you should enjoy with drink and popcorns this is something you might want to watch to get a friendly understanding of common health issues like your gut health or you can watch during a work break to make time valuable by getting some useful entertaining knowledge that may help you live a little better than before.
